    A blessing in disguise

    The best of both worlds

Don't judge the book by its cover

Caught between a rock and a hard place

    To cut corners

    A piece of cake

    The last straw

To bite off more than you can chew

To cost and arm and a leg

    To break the bank

    To make ends meet

    Bread and butter

To put all your eggs in one basket

    Far cry from

In the heat of the moment

To make/cut a long story short

    Once in a blue moon

    A drop in the ocean

    The tip of the iceberg

    To go dutch

    To compare apples and oranges

    Not my cup of tea

    Food for thought

    To have a sweet tooth

    Down to earth

Go dutch is kind of offensive for dutch ppl actually…
it origins from a context saying dutch ppl are stingy
split the billd could be better way to put it

You dont just get a band 9 using idioms. Band nine requires hard work and patience. It is just senseless to say these are band 9 idioms. No examiner is going to give u a band 9 when u use these idioms if u have tonnes of grammar mistakes or use these idioms unnaturally.

I'm not trying to buff here, but I have to say that bread and butter is not just a financial idiom, it's more general and it means "fundamental", "basic" or "main". I learned this from some gaming esport event, so I'm gonna use the same clause as an example : The bread and butter combo for Steve Fox is back one. Which means "back one" is the main combo that any Steve player must know.

Also I'm writing this to practice my vocabulary writing 😛 … I hate IELTS
